Mountain Stone Strolling Garden

Mountain Stone Strolling Garden

This enclosed courtyard primarily serves residents of the memory and high acuity care wings.  With the use of locally harvested mountain stone and native forest and meadow plants, this lush garden may help residents remember and reconnect with their favorite wild landscapes. Beneath the shade of trees, beautiful weathered boulders and stone walls line looping walkways along with shade-loving plants of different textures and colors.  A porch, circular patio, and widened paths allow many opportunities for residents to gather for activities or to sit and observe birds, blooms, and enjoy the soothing sound of falling water, which is the perfect type of stimulation for our most sensitive and vulnerable folks.

Sunrise Butterfly Garden

Sunrise Butterfly Garden

The magic and beauty of butterflies has long been celebrated in our community with an annual butterfly release festival.  This courtyard space, with a small event lawn, patio, and pathways, will become the new venue along with plantings that provide food and habitat for butterflies and other beneficial pollinators.

This garden with an overlook terrace, is also uniquely oriented to enjoy views of the sunrise over Mount Nittany and distant views along the ridge.  A native maple tree in the courtyard will help capture the spectacular fall color that residents will see on the mountainside.
